Planning Ahead: Handmade Christmas in June

Over the past month, I’ve been building up stock and thinking ahead to the Christmas Markets. It might feel strange planning for Christmas in spring, but when everything is hand‑sewn and embroidered, it takes time to create enough pieces, so I work steadily throughout the year. I’ve started making mini bears, mini Christmas trees, and developing a couple of new craft kits.

I’ve stitched a box of brown felt bears with embroidered tummies and a gang of white polar bears with snowflake designs. They still need finishing, but I’m pleased with the progress. I’ve also cut and embroidered ten Christmas tree truck decorations, next, I’ll be stitching the tops. My goal for the coming week is to finish these off, label them, and pack them away safely out of sunlight.

This week brought a lovely surprise when a returning customer who bought one of my mini felt owls at Christmas got in touch to order a few more. Her message gave me the perfect nudge to make a fresh batch! They’re now finished, listed in my Etsy shop, and she received a promotional discount code as a thank‑you.

So June is shaping up to be a month of finishing, cutting out, and starting new handmade decorations — more owls, toadstools, and festive felt ornaments to come.
