Sewing on a button is a simple, useful skill, and with a few easy steps you can secure them neatly. Buttons can add detail and character to your handmade projects, and sewing them on securely is simpler than you might think.
This method use the no knot in the thread method. Start by cutting a length of thread. Fold this length in half and then thread with both ends through the needle and leave a long loop.

Step 1 – Insert the needle into the fabric and bring it back out again, leaving a small loop at the end.

Step 2 – Put the needle back through the loop to secure the stitch.

Step 4 – Pull the thread taut, and your thread is now attached securely to the fabric.

Step 4 – Push the needle through one of the hole on the button from the back to the front.

Step 5 – Insert the needle back down through the second hole in the button and continue straight down through the fabric.

Step 6 – Insert the needle back through the fabric, through the back of the button’s first hole. Back down through the second hole and out of the back of the fabric. Repeat several times.



Step 7 – Finishing at the back of the fabric. Inserting your needle under the thread on the fabric several times. On the last stitch leave the loop. Insert your needle through the loop and pull taut to knot then snip off thread.
